Poggio Antico is one of the leading realities on the wine-making scene of the Brunello di Montalcino. In about 30 years, a great passion for nature, strenuous hand work in the vineyards, low but extremely high quality outcomes, modern technologies in the cellar have made the company a brand of international success. Nowadays the estate is made up of 200 hectares as a whole including 33 hectares of vineyards, 3 hectares of olive groves and then woodlands. The new general manager is Federico Trost who decided to dedicate interests and resources to conquer important positions on the Italian market with: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG “Altero”, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Rosso di Montalcino DOC. But in order to reach his trading goal he needed a reliable partner, of proved business acumen. Thus a distribution agreement has been signed with the Cecchi family, the historic Chianti company who celebrates its 125 years of business and who in the last five years has successfully distributed “Castiglion del Bosco” of the Ferragamo family. “The business collaboration with the Cecchi family, Federico Trost affirms, “is coherent with our aim at strengthening our presence on the national market in this phase of renovation which foresees a conversion to organic cultivation, the study of the soil of the vineyards and the exclusive cultivation of Sangiovese.” The Cecchi family is a group where the distribution sector is now well grounded also thanks to the partnership with Maison di Champagne RM Collard Picard, Castiglion del Bosco, Castelfeder, Sorentberg and Julius Treis in Mosella. “On the domestic market, affirms Luca Stortolani, commercial manager “we are growing constantly with growths of over 12% thanks to the wine labels of our estates: Villa Cerna in the Chianti Classico area, Val delle Rose in Maremma and Castello Montauto in San Gimignano. With Poggio Antico we will be able to single out excellent results, placing the product in high quality restaurants, in selected wine bars, in luxury hotels and in the most important stores in Italy.”
