A tour around the temples of Florentine “good drinking”, a 4-month journey which, starting from the Empireo Ground Floor of the Hotel Plaza Lucchesi touches the best city cocktail bars and – in a total of 18 appointments – sees the most trendy barmen at work, called to demonstrate to the public their forte in terms of cocktails. It’s Ego Circus, a review devised by Gabriele Frongia who, until March, puts the clubs which have brought Florence in the Olympus of the cities of good mixed drinks under the limelight. Also thanks to initiatives like the Florence Cocktail Week, the Tuscan capital has seen the level of cocktail bars in the city rise considerably, between established bars and new high level ones. The secret of this success lies also in hotel bars which thanks to a mix of international guests and city enthusiasts have been able to experiment, create and enhance the art of mindful drinking. And this is precisely how the idea of Ego Circus 2018 of the Plaza Lucchesi took off, the mixology circus: until March, there will be 9 “return” evenings having Empireo Ground Floor, the bar of the hotel on the lungarno Zecca Vecchia, as a fixed location. From Julian Biondi to Simone Corsini up to Sasha Mecocci, the mixing artists will exchange their counters for an evening, making their creations known in locations other than their usual bar. For each evening at the Empireo Ground Floor, a “twin” one will be held at the counter of the guest bartender. After the debut in November with Simone Corsini of the Atrium Bar at Four Seasons, on 20thDecember, Sasha Mecocci from Fusion will face the theme of cocktail territoriality while 2019 will open with Julian Biondi who, on 17thJanuary, will bring the irreverent spirit of MAD. 31stJanuary will be the occasion to see the staff of Rasputin for a night out from the most secret of bars in Florence while 14thFebruary, Saint Valentine’s will be celebrated with Manuel Perreto’s whisky from Lovecraft, the first whisky bar of the city. On 28thFebruary beer mixing will be the topic with the guys from Black Lodge while the beginning of March will see the “neighbours” from FUK behind the counter. The end of March will see the closing evening at Out of Ordinarythanks to the guys from OOO at the Student Hotel.
